The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) fourth General assembly meeting. Date : 18-19th January Irena is an intergovernmental organisation dedicated to renewable energy. IRENA was founded on 26 January 2009 in Bonn, Germany, by 75 States which signed its Statute. As of January 2012, the membership of IRENA comprises 155 States and the European Union (EU), out of which 86 States and the EU have ratified the Statute.

Date : 20-22nd January EcoWASTE is a new regional platform that brings together leading local and international providers, buyers and industry professionals from the sustainable waste management and recycling sector to support the urgent waste disposal challenges and needs in the Middle East. Hosted by Masdar and held in partnership with the Centre of Waste Management in Abu Dhabi (CWM), Ecowaste is a part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, and provides unrivalled opportunities to network, exchange best practices, do business, unveil new projects and source cutting-edge technologies and solutions in waste management and recycling.
  • 6th Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards And Gala Dinner
Date : 20th January The Zayed Future Energy Prize represents the vision of the Late Founding Father of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan, who championed sustainability and environmental stewardship. The prize categories (Large Corporation, SME, NGO, Lifetime Achievement and Global High Schools Prize) focus on supporting emerging businesses, individuals and support future generations that have innovative ideas and projects that can create a positive impact on meeting the requirements of our greatest energy and sustainability challenges by providing real-world solutions. Each of these categories is evaluated based on the four core criteria of the prize: o Leadership o Long-term Vision o Innovation o Impact The Zayed Future Energy Prize gives innovators a unique meeting platform and aims to become a catalyst for the adoption and dissemination of renewable energy and clean technology solutions worldwide. In 2014, the 6th annual Awards Ceremony of the Zayed Future Energy Prize will take place during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.
